Electric Life was created as a new way for independent artists to promote their music in the sync licensing industry. With all of the drastic changes in music revenue during the 2010s, it was vital to replace some of the musician's lost income.
Electric Life would also focus on a sector of the sync and visual production industries that could provide a better match with independent music. Providing a brand and UI that aligned with the desires of both the artist and client was key.
1) The logo for Electric Life was purposely designed to achieve ambiguity since many types of music would be represented. The overall aesthetic is also designed to be artistic and less corporate.
2) The font was designed to be relatable to action sports brands (the desired client).
1) The interface was designed to provide three simple menu options. Rather than adding these to the global menu bar, these buttons would differentiate themselves as part of a web app and would have prominence on the page.
2) Simple onboarding image cards help the user understand the most essential functions.
3) Each category would include drop-down menus to sort through "Collections" or playlists.
4) The playlist images play off the color design of the company logo. They have a similar theme and the dark is meant to create contrast against the white background.
5) Each playlist has its own music interface, making browsing very simple and straightforward. The hierarchy of the play button, waveform scrub, and song title provides easy recognition for the user. This element was customized from the Soundcloud API.
